چکیده

A furnace freeze lining is necessary for safety and economic reasons in several smelting operations. The integrity of the put at risk by power imbalances. Although numerous models have been derived to model growth depletion due imbalances, no exists thermomechanical damage lining. This study provides an initial pathway modelling ilmenite using information from literature experimental work. methodology under framework continuum mechanics proposed mechanical phase changes, thermophysical constrained thermal expansion. Drill cores solidified slag ingots were used represent modified law proved be best predictor softening response drill cores. Damage driving parameters extracted raw data, governing equations with respect temperature use a finite element method (FEM) code.

Inverse Determination of Eroded Smelter Wall Thickness Variation Using an Elastic Membrane Concept

A novel algorithm has been developed for the nondestructive determination of the shape of the interface between a melt and a refractory material wall in smelter furnaces. This method uses measurements of temperature and heat flux at a number of points on the outer surface of the furnace, and assumes that the inner (guessed) surface of the furnace wall is isothermal. The temperature field is the...

Characterization of Elastic Properties of Porous Graphene Using an Ab Initio Study

Importance of covalent bonded two-dimensional monolayer nanostructures and also hydrocarbons is undeniably responsible for creation of new fascinating materials like polyphenylene polymer, a hydrocarbon super honeycomb network, so-called porous graphene. The mechanical properties of porous graphene such as its Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio and the bulk modulus as the determinative properties...

Quasistatic Evolution of Damage in an Elastic-viscoplastic Material

The mathematical theory of quasistatic elastic viscoplastic models with damage is studied. The existence of the unique local weak solution is established by using approximate problems and a priori estimates. Pointwise estimates on the damage are obtained using a new comparison technique which removes the necessity of including a subgradient term in the equation for damage.

An Entropy-Based Damage Characterization

This paper presents a scientific basis for the description of the causes of damage within an irreversible thermodynamic framework and the effects of damage as observable variables that signify degradation of structural integrity. The approach relies on the fundamentals of irreversible thermodynamics and specifically the notion of entropy generation as a measure of degradation and damage. We fir...

Freeze fracturing of elastic porous media: a mathematical model.

We present a mathematical model of the fracturing of water-saturated rocks and other porous materials in cold climates. Ice growing inside porous rocks causes large pressures to develop that can significantly damage the rock. We study the growth of ice inside a penny-shaped cavity in a water-saturated porous rock and the consequent fracturing of the medium. Premelting of the ice against the roc...
